The Second Phase long socks are inspired by the bold colors, lines, and shapes of Navajo Chief Blankets, an icon in the world of Native American Arts & Crafts.
For the record, the Diné did not have ‘Chiefs’ in the same sense as other Native American tribes. Instead, we had ‘headmen’ who guided our communities across our homeland. So where did the famous Navajo Chief Blanket style come from?
These blankets get their name because they were often given as gifts to chiefs of other Native American tribes. I wanted to create these socks to follow the tradition of the Chief Blankets, as a gift for someone special in your life.
